Welcome to Pinebox, a sleepy little East Texas town with more than its share of trouble. Whether it's the snake cultists running the local bar or vengeful spirits haunting the high school boys locker room, there always seems to be some sort of trouble brewing just below the surface. Join us for a dozen tales of horror from these haunting voices in fiction.

Austin State University in Nacogdoches. He has decided that, if he can't be Legolas or Nyarlathotep, he'll settle for being a college professor.

    Derek Gunn is the author of the post-apocalyptic thriller series, Vampire Apocalypse, widely praised on both sides of the Atlantic and published by US genre press Black Death Books.     David Wellington is the author of seven novels. His zombie novels "Monster Island", "Monster Nation" and "Monster Planet"(Thunder's Mouth Press) form a complete trilogy. He has also written a series of vampire novels including (so far) "Thirteen Bullets", "Ninety-Nine Coffins", "Vampire Zero" and "Twenty-Three Hours" (Three Rivers Press). As an undergraduate he attended Syracuse University; in 1996 he received an MFA in Creative Writing from Penn State; and in 2006 he received an MLS from the Pratt Institute. Mr. Wellington currently resides in New York City with his wife Elisabeth and their dog Mary. Mr. Wellington got his start in publishing in an interesting way. In 2004 he began serializing his horror fiction online, posting short chapters of a novel three times a week on a friend's blog. The book was written in "real-time"; that is, each chapter was conceived, outlined, researched, composed and edited within twenty-four hours of its initial posting. By word of mouth readers learned of the project and returned to watch the story evolve. Response to the project was so great that in 2004 Thunder's Mouth Press approached Mr. Wellington about publishing "Monster Island" as a print book. He helped found 12 to Midnight in 2003 and has written the following: Last Rites of the Black Guard, Green's Guide to Ghosts, Innana's Kiss, Fear Effects, and contributed to Bloodlines, the upcoming Realms of Cthulhu by Reality Blurs, and has written several short stories and articles published in various places. He and Preston Dubose have been working on ETU: Degrees of Horror, a plot point book for the Savage Worlds rules system.

    JD Wiker has been writing since he got his first (toy) typewriter at age 8. After years of struggling along as a stockboy, gas station attendant, disc jockey, computer systems operator, game designer, and IP developer, he returned to his first calling, and is currently working on his first novel. JD lives in Virginia with his wife Keri. This story was inspired in part by their drive across northern Texas when they relocated from southern California.

    Last Exit to Pinebox, by J.D. Wiker - Road-weary travelers stop at an all-night diner on Christmas Eve in Pinebox, hoping for coffee and directions. Unfortunately, leaving isn't as easy.
